Student Grant Program

EECU’s Student Grant Program provides grants to help members pay for tuition, books, and other school-related expenses. The program is open to members who are pursing a post-high school education at community colleges, universities, vocational schools, or professional training programs across the country.

Fifty grants are awarded each year totaling $100,000 to support our members’ pursuit of higher education. Since its inception in 2003, the program has distributed more than $2 million in financial assistance to 1,175 students.

The 2027 EECU Student Grant Program will open Oct. 7, 2026.

EECU’s Student Grant Programs provide grants to help members pay for school-related expenses. The programs are open to members who are pursuing a post-high school education at a community college, university/college, vocational/technical school, or advanced professional training in the U.S.

Grant Program Information and Requirements

Up to fifty $2,000 grants will be awarded for the 2027-2028 academic year. The deadline to apply for a grant is Friday, Dec. 4, 2026. To be eligible to apply for the 2027 grant program, applicants need to be:

  1. An EECU member, joint member or joint owner as of June 4, 2026; account must be in good standing. If you are a joint owner on an account and you are selected to receive a grant, you will be required to open an account as a primary member before the grant funds may be awarded.
  2. Planning to attend a community college, university/college, vocational/technical school, or advanced professional training in the U.S. in the 2027-2028 academic year (summer courses are ineligible); grant recipients will be required to provide verification of enrollment for the 2027-2028 academic year.

Note: EECU employees, officials, and their spouses and dependents are ineligible to apply for the Member Grant Program. Grant Reading Committee members and their immediate family members are ineligible to apply.

EECU Employee Spouse & Dependent

For the spouses and dependents of EECU employees.

Up to ten $2,000 grants will be awarded for the 2027-2028 academic year. The deadline to apply for a grant is Friday, Dec. 4, 2026. To be eligible to apply for the 2027 grant program, applicants need to be:

  1. The spouse or dependent of a current EECU employee; specific requirements are listed in the grant application. Applicants must select that they are applying as the spouse or dependent of an EECU employee when completing the application.
  2. An EECU member, joint member or joint owner as of June 4, 2026; account must be in good standing. If you are a joint owner on an account and you are selected to receive a grant, you will be required to open an account as a primary member before the grant funds may be awarded.
  3. Planning to attend a community college, university/college, vocational/technical school, or advanced professional training in the U.S. in the 2027-2028 academic year (summer courses are ineligible); grant recipients will be required to provide verification of enrollment for the 2027-2028 academic year.

Note: EECU employees are ineligible to apply for the Employee Spouse & Dependent Grant Program. Grant Reading Committee members and their immediate family members are ineligible to apply.

Apply for a Student Grant

Applicants will complete and submit the grant application online. The following documents must be uploaded to the online application prior to submission:

  1. Two letters of recommendation in PDF format. Please review the Letter of Recommendation Requirements for important information.
  2. Electronic transcript(s) in PDF format from the educational institution(s) you have attended. Read our Frequently Asked Questions below for important information about transcripts.
  3. If currently enrolled, a list of courses you are currently taking/work in progress (if not listed on transcript) in PDF format.
