EECU has sponsored the Kings County Excellence in Education awards program since 1997, and has been the sole sponsor since 2003. This annual recognition is an opportunity to join together to honor teachers, administrators and school employees for their dedication to the profession and their passion for educating our youth. The Excellence in Education Awards honors educational employees in three categories: Administrator/Manager of the Year, School Employee of the Year and Teacher of the Year. It is a privilege to honor these talented individuals who exemplify the highest standards in their profession.
A sculpture entitled "Story Time" was created by the late artist Clement Renzi and commissioned by EECU. The winners of the Excellence in Education award also receive a smaller version of the bronze sculpture entitled "Apple." All nominees receive a framed, numbered, personalized limited-edition print of the "Story Time" sculpture. Nominees, family members, and special guests are invited to attend a special evening reception and awards ceremony, funded by EECU.
